Carver Skateboards 27.5" Grey Ray With C7
Charles and Ray Eames created some of the most iconic Modernist classics ever made, and they did their most groundbreaking work just a few blocks from the Carver design studio in Venice, CA. Their experiments in bent wood are part of an untold history that led directly to innovations that years later produced the modern skateboard deck.
At the time Charles got much of the credit for their output, but Ray was actually the artist of the duo, integrating her painting and sculpture styles into textiles and furniture produced by their studio. For this series we combine the rounded rectangle reminiscent of their famous bent wood chairs with an original interpretation of one of Ray’s early paintings.
Like a smooth river stone, the shape of this mini flows within space and time, transporting us across miles of hardtop with an elegance that inspires our own artful movements across the hardscape of modernity.
