Patagonia produce durable, functional gear with a strong environmental stance.

Patagonia was founded in 1973 by Yvon Chouinard, an American climber who began by making his own equipment because the gear available at the time didn’t meet his needs. The brand grew out of a small blacksmith business producing climbing hardware, and from the start it was shaped by a deep connection to the outdoors and a desire to do things responsibly.

As Patagonia expanded into outdoor clothing, it became known not just for durable, functional gear but also for its strong environmental stance. During the 1980s and 1990s, the company took pioneering steps in using recycled materials and organic cotton, challenging the wider industry to rethink how products were made and the impact they had on the planet.
