Rip Curl Wetsuits

Founded in 1969 by Doug Warbrick and Brian Singer, Australian based surf company Rip Curl initially produced surfboards, then in 1970, seeing a gap in the market, they decided to switch focus to the manufacture of Rip Curl wetsuits for surfing. The name Rip Curl is said to have come from Doug Warbrick who wrote ‘Rip Curl Hot Dog’ on a surfboard back in 1968 – the words had no meaning, but he obviously took a liking to the phrase
