The skateboard deck is the heart of your skateboard. The deck is the foundation that connects you to every push, every slide and every trick. At Ocean Sports Board Riders we’ve curated a wide range of skateboard decks that covers different styles, sizes and brands so you can find the right board for your ride.
Our collection includes decks from classic and well-loved names in skateboarding as well as fresh graphics that speak to individual taste. You’ll find options from Polar and Santa Cruz right through to Powell Peralta, Real, World Industries and more. Each deck comes with free grip tape included at full price, which means you’re closer to rolling straight away and don’t have to think about that extra step later.
Picking the right skateboard deck isn’t just about the graphic you love; it’s about how the board feels under your feet and how it suits the way you skate. Narrower decks in around 7.75″ to 8.25″ widths often feel more responsive and are popular with street skaters who favour technical tricks. On the other hand, decks in the 8.5″ and above range give you a bit more stability and surface area to stand on, which can really help when cruising or if you’re just starting out and want that extra confidence.
We also know that skateboarders aren’t all the same. Some riders are drawn to boards that feel lively underfoot, popping off the ground with ease. Others might be drawn to the control that a wider board brings when you’re carving around or dropping into transition. That’s why our deck range includes a mix of widths and shapes, so you can match your deck to your riding style. And because all decks are offered individually, you can build your setup exactly how you want it – swapping trucks, wheels and bearings to suit your personal preferences.
Whether you drop into our Brighton and Hove store to see the boards in person, or browse online from the comfort of home, we’re here to help you find a skateboard deck that suits your needs. The right deck makes all the difference and at Ocean Sports Board Riders we’re proud to stock a range that reflects the diversity and character of skateboarding itself. We’re passionate about skateboarding culture and we're here to make it easy to get the deck that's right for you.
Heroin Skateboards is one of those skateboard brands that doesn’t just make decks — it cultivates character and creativity in every board it releases. What makes Heroin truly distinctive are its skateboard deck shapes and graphics. You won’t just find the usual popsicle boards here — although the brand does make those too — but also a wide range of unconventional shapes that challenge how a deck can look and feel. Perhaps the most famous are the Heroin Egg boards, a rounded, oval-inspired shape that skaters have taken to for their stability and playful feel underfoot. These eggs come in lots of variations — from Mini Eggs to Eggzillas — each offering something different depending on the way you like to ride.
Powell Peralta is one of the most recognised names in skateboarding, with a story that’s deeply woven into the sport’s history and culture. Founded in 1978 by engineer-turned-skateboard maker George Powell and legendary rider and team manager Stacy Peralta, the brand quickly grew from a small Californian operation into a global icon that helped shape modern skateboarding.
Polar Skateboards — often seen simply as Polar — is one of those brands that feels like it was shaped by skaters for skaters, carrying a unique voice that’s rooted in creativity just as much as performance. Founded in Malmö, Sweden in 2011 by professional skateboarder and artist Pontus Alv, the company grew out of a desire to create a different kind of skate brand — one that wasn’t purely driven by mainstream trends but inspired by the creative spirit of skateboarding itself.
Death Skateboards is a British skate brand that has carved out a real identity in skateboarding by keeping things honest, independent and rooted in the community itself. Founded in 1998 in Harrow, London by lifelong skater Nick “Zorlac” Orecchio, Death has been proudly skater-owned and run from the start — a deliberate move to stay true to the culture rather than follow passing trends or outside influences.
Real Skateboards is one of those brands that feels deeply rooted in skateboard culture — not just because it’s been around for a long time, but because it was built by skateboarders who truly understood what it means to skate and live that lifestyle. Founded in 1991 in San Francisco by Tommy Guerrero and Jim Thiebaud — both former riders for Powell Peralta — Real was created at a time when the founders wanted something more honest and less commercial than what they were seeing in the skate industry. From the very start the aim was to keep it real — to prioritise street skating, authentic graphics and decks that perform just the way riders expect.
Opera Skateboards is a relatively new yet influential name in the skateboarding world, built from a deep understanding of skate culture and a passion for authentic expression. The brand was founded in 2023 by Bill Weiss, a seasoned skate industry figure who was previously behind Madness Skateboards. After the changes at Dwindle Distribution that led to the end of Madness, Weiss teamed up with other skateboarders to launch Opera under the Sidewalk Distribution banner — a company that champions skateboarding from the ground up.
