  • Old Skool Dayz Event

Old Skool Day at Shoreham Skate park October 10th

What an amazing event – the Pictures say it all……… Blazing Sunshine, Rad Skating, Seventies Soundtrack, old Boards, old mates, Pot Noodles, retro outfits and those Wigs…..

The first Old Skool Skate Day at Shoreham went off…!

Huge thanks to Tony for lending us part of his amazing vintage skateboard collection, Paul for doing the flyers and the custom retro banners, Steve on catering, Jelly for all the behind the scenes work, Geordie who drove all the way from Christchurch just to lend us his leopard skin sound system, Adur Council for trusting us with the key to the park and loaning us their car park and finally…. to all the Skaters young and old that made it such a memorable day…...

It was great to see Brighton skate legends Jock Paterson, Tim Dunkerley and Phil Earl there at the event too - who knows maybe next year we might get Mark Baker there…!

Now we've cracked the first one we want to run an Old Skool Skate day once a year at Shoreham so keep an eye on the site for details and on Ebay for any old boards (unless Tony buys them first…..) and we will see you all again next year..!

  • Old Skool Dayz

This weekend there is another great event at Shoreham’s acclaimed “Ham Skate park” The Park well known for its ‘Bowl’ considered one of the best in the UK, the design was influenced from the 1970’s when skateboarders first discovered they could ride in empty swimming pools across America.

The park’s user group and Ocean Sports Skate shop in Hove have organized the event at the Ham to celebrate over 30 years of South Coast Skateboarding,

Since the early 70’s the South Coast has been a hotbed for generations of Skaters and home to some great Skate parks too, The Cage under the Brighton Sea Front Arches, the Barn at Southwick and the original Level Skate Park all are now a distant memory – but the skaters are still skating or now getting back on a board reliving those halcyon days.
James from Ocean Sports said “we get alot of dads buying skateboards for their children, coming back in for a board for themselves reminiscing about their old Skateboard days, We thought wouldn’t it be great to get all these skaters back together again and this is how the idea for Old Skool Dayz started…

It’s a chance to catch up with long lost mates, swap skate stories…. have a skate or just watch and enjoy the nostalgia….We are hoping for special appearances from 70’s Skate legends… plus there will be an exhibition of rare vintage skateboards……

The event will be set to a rockin’ 70’s and 80’s soundtrack to add to the atmosphere. Some of the old Skaters will be raiding their wardrobes for retro 70’s skate gear and there will be prizes for best dressed, classic old skateboards and tricks on the day… There will also be a raffle to raise funds to put toward Lighting for the skatepark.
It will be a fun and family oriented event, a chance for the old guys to show the kids how it was done in their day!

So if you still have that old board in the loft – dust it off and roll down to the Ham Skate Park in Shoreham : Sunday October the 10th from 10am
